About this Item
Domaine de Villaine is located in Bouzeron, nestled in the Côte Chalonnaise region of Burgundy, France. Owner and vigneron, Aubert de Villaine is the longtime co-director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and started producing wines in Bouzeron in the 1970’s, away from the limelight of Romanée-Conti. De Villaine attributes the exceptional quality of their wines to his long-standing commitment to biodynamic practices and organic production.
Organic Certification
Both farmed and made according to organic practices, certified by ECOCERT (mostly Europe) and other organisations.
Certified organically grown grapes - no use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. Use of certain cover crops, methods of soil care, and other specified vineyard care.
Wine made according to strict standards - use of approved, organic yeast, and no added sulfites or other specified additives. Does not imply that the wine is vegan (allows for specified fining agents (including egg whites) and enzymes). In certain regions this is extended to chaptalisation and acid addition.

Critics Ratings
‘Restrained, stony aroma. Lightly herbal notes. Almost salty. Lovely dry, slightly grainy texture adding depth. Refined and subtle but long.’ - Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Jan 2017)
‘This bright, balanced white offers an appealing mix of apple and white peach flavors, with accents of straw and earth. Fresh, with lingering notes of lemon.’ - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 90/100 (Sept 2017)
