About this Item
Dalla Cia's story began in the 1920s when Vittorio Dalla Cia, a wine merchant, started the first Dalla Cia Distillery which grew into one of the biggest producers of Grappa in Italy. In 1974, Vittorio's son, Giorgio, moved to South Africa with his family and worked at Meerlust Estate for 25 years. He was a pioneer in the creation of Bordeaux-style blends in South Africa and in founding the first Grappa Distillery on a South African Wine Estate. Giorgio established Dalla Cia in 2001 and has built a brand which stands for age-old Italian tradition and passion for innovation.
Teano is a blend of classic Bordeaux varieties and the elegant Tuscan Sangiovese grape.

Critics Ratings
‘Mostly French varieties plus nod to Italian ancestry with 15% Sangiovese. 2014, first since 2011 (90 points), shows power in firm tannins and lively acidity running through ripe mélange of red and black fruit. Good length, intensity and new-oak backbone suggest a good future.' – Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2018, 4.5* (92 points)
‘Teano is the Dalla Cia family’s South African take on a Supertuscan red, produced from a marriage of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Sangiovese, aged in new wood. Ripe, yet well balanced, it has raspberry, red cherry and bramble fruit, leafy, savoury tannins, some tobacco spice and well-integrated oak. 2020-26.’ - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 93/100
