Critics Ratings
Domaine Saint-Benoît Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grande Garde 1998
‘Good medium red. Roasted aromas of red berry liqueur, smoked nuts and a whiff of raisin. More concentrated and deeper than the Soleil & Festins, but also seems a bit more alcoholic. Flavors of roasted red fruits. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (Mar 2001)
Domaine Saint-Benoît Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grande Garde 1999
'Still brick with a very slightly browning rim - gorgeous nose and fully ripe fruit - beautifully balanced and perfect with the Prime Rib. Drinking perfectly now and will last a couple more years at least.’ - Cellartracker, 92/100 (Oct 2013)
Domaine Saint-Benoît Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Truffières 1998
‘Medium red. Perfumed, nuanced aromas of red cherry, roast coffee, dark chocolate, leather and pepper. A distinct step up in freshness and intensity from the Soleil & Festins and Grande Garde bottlings; rich and supple but also spicy and nicely delineated, with lovely lift in the middle palate. Finishes long, subtle and vibrant, with very fine tannins.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 90/100 (Mar 2001)
