About this Item

1998 - 2000 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Marquis Anselme Mathieu & Châteauneuf-du-Pape
4 (1 x 4) 750ml

Domaine André Mathieu is situated in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and was founded by Anselme Mathieu in 1854, although the family has a historical link to the region dating back to the 1600’s. Originally known as Domaine Mathieu, it was passed to brothers André and Jerome in 1980 and this also saw a new age for winemaking on the estate. After the brothers parted ways, André Mathieu remained and the name was changed to what it is today. The domain comprises 13 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, predominantly focused on red wine production, as well as further vineyard parcels spread across the Southern Rhône region.

This lots consists of the following wines:
André Mathieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape 1998
Marquis Anselme Mathieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape 1998
Marquis Anselme Mathieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape 1999
Marquis Anselme Mathieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2000

Domaine André Matieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape Marquis Anselme Mathieu is produced from the estates oldest vines, planted at the start of the 20th century, the wine is made from 90% Grenache, with the remainder of the blend coming from all 13 of the other allowable, assorted, red wine grape varieties. This special cuvée is only made in the best vintages. The wine is no longer being made - it has been replaced by La Centenaire, starting with the 2014 vintage.
