About this Item
Purchased by a French Huguenot back in 1709 and situated in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley, La Motte was named after a little village in Provence France and has been producing wine since 1752. Named after the famous SA landscape artist whose works feature on the labels, this blend was inspired by the great Côte Rôtie styles of Northern Rhône and uses the flamboyant flavour of Viognier to complement the spiciness of the Shiraz.
Inspired by La Motte’s owner, Hanneli Rupert, this wine guides La Motte in its noble pursuit of excellence and its embrace of the South African wine-lands. A Shiraz-based blend produced from hand-harvested grapes, selected exclusively when a vintage yields exceptional quality.

Critics Ratings
‘81% Shiraz, 10% Grenache and 9% Mourvèdre. Very expressive on the nose: red berries, floral perfume, fynbos and a hint of vanilla. Medium bodied and well delineated – pure fruit, fresh acidity and firm yet fine tannins. Rhône-like in broad terms.’ - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 17/20 (Jan 2013)
