About this Item
In 1912, Domaine de la Charbonnière was bought by Eugène Maret for his wife, who was a winemaker's daughter in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Passed on to their son, Fernand Maret, and then on to Fernand’s son and two granddaughters – Michel, Caroline and Véronique – the fourth generation custodians continue the work set up by their forefathers to produce well-balanced and elegant wines. The estate holds 19 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 6 hectares of AOP Vacqueyras and 2 hectares of AOP Côtes du Rhône. ‘One of my favorite estates in the southern Rhône, Domaine de la Charbonnière is run with great passion and enthusiasm,’ wrote Robert Parker of The Wine Advocate.

Critics Ratings
‘Shows the ripe, polished profile of the vintage, with licorice, raspberry sauce and cherry pie notes pushed by fruitcake and cocoa. Delivers a solid, sappy, fruit-laden feel through the finish. Drink now through 2025. 200 cases made.’ - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Jul 2013)
‘Glass-staining ruby. Highly expressive aromas of cassis, cherry compote and garrigue, with a floral topnote. Concentrated and lush, with spicy dark fruit and candied lavender flavors showing a touch of back-end warmth. Offers good balance for such a rich wine and finishes bright and sappy, with supple tannins and lingering florality. 70% Mourvèdre and 30% Grenache.’ - Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 91/100 (Jan 2012)
