About this Item
Haskell Vineyards graces the slopes of the Helderberg mountain range in Stellenbosch, an area known as the “Golden Triangle”, widely recognized as one of South Africa’s finest wine-growing sub-regions and home to many of South Africa’s top wines.
In 2002, American/Russian property tycoon Preston Haskell IV purchased the farm Dombeya (originally part of neighbouring Rust & Vrede) and renamed it Haskell Vineyards. Shortly thereafter, Rianie Strydom joined Haskell as Winemaker and GM, and soon became the first woman to be offered membership of the Cape Winemakers Guild.

Critics Ratings
‘Pillars Shiraz’ previously. Following showstopper 2007, equally brilliant 2008 opens to explosive aromas of blackberry, liquorice & floral essences. Complex & restrained, excellent concentration of berry flavours on well-developed tannin frame. Natural fermentation, malolactic fermentation in oak, 60% new barrels.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide, 5*
‘Very rich with a hint of smoked fish(!). Lovely texture and not even a hint of burnt rubber. No heat. Attractive blend of dust and bitter chocolate powder. Very well made. Though it comes in a naughty heavy bottle.’ – Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Dec 2011)
