About this Item
Reyneke is one of 5 Stellenbosch properties to get First Growth status in Tim Atkin's 2017 SA Report. Reyneke farm began in 1863 when it was then named 'Uitzicht', meaning 'view'. It is located overlooking Stellenbosch and False Bay with north, south and east facing slopes. Reyneke is certified organic and biodynamic and follows sustainable practices in everything they do. 'Their wines demonstrate the care they take, not infallible wines, rather honest and personality-driven wines that are distinctive, as much cerebral as sensory experiences,' says Neal Martin.

Critics Ratings
‘It doesn’t say so on the label, but this remarkable biodynamically farmed red is made entirely from Syrah for the first time. White pepper, some spice from whole bunches and notes of lavender and thyme underpinned by sweet vanilla oak, fine tannins and refined acidity. Arguably the best Syrah to come out of the Cape so far, it’s a tribute to a great viticulturist and a great winemaker. Drink 2015-24.’ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2015, 97/100
‘No 2011, but masterly 2012 worth waiting for. Unlike 2010 with some cab, this pure syrah/shiraz - lighter, even more elegant & fine. Less sweet-fruited than the Syrah, but more complex & subtly intense, melding structural austerity with grace. Already complex, but will develop.’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide, 4.5*
‘100% Syrah. Sweet and transparent and nervy. Racy and interesting. Liquorice.’ – Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Jan 2015)
