Critics Ratings
‘2009 dollops of red fruit, mega-ripe though still fresh enough. Invasion of flavour (berry not spice), texture, huge 15.5% alcohol. Sweetness of mostly US new oak abetted by few grams sugar. 2008 (4.5 stars) promised more savoury focus.’– Platter's SA Wine Guide, 4*
‘This nicely layered red shows dense fig paste, currant preserves and linzer torte flavors laced with anise, graphite and black tea. There's plenty of grip, with an enticing white pepper note flittering through the finish as the graphite edge takes hold. Should unfold nicely in the cellar.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 93/100 (Apr 2012)
‘Limited to 1,200 bottles, the 2009 Single Vineyard Shiraz was matured for 18 months in 50% French and 50% American oak, of which 75% are new. It has an intense bouquet of blackberry, dark plum, honey and creme de cassis. The palate is medium-bodied with supple black cherries, dark plum and Hoi Sin notes. It is fleshy and generous with a caressing, voluminous finish that is persistent and pure. Drink now-2020.’ – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 92/100 (Dec 2012)
