About this Item
After global travels and living in Japan for more than two decades, Hans-Peter Schröder relocated to Stellenbosch and bought the beautiful Oude Nektar farm in the Jonkershoek Valley in the late 1980s. He was later joined by son-in-law José Conde, a native of Kansas City, who took up the reins in the cellar with both passion and precision, unlocking the potential of the Jonkershoek terroir.

Critics Ratings
‘First made in 2002, this comes from parcel of 23-year-old vines and is produced in correspondingly small quantities. Savoury spice, some fynbos, subtle oak and a minerally, granite core, underpinned by fine-boned tannins. Drink 2015-21.’ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2015, 93/100
‘Smallest crop ever from elevated syrah/shiraz vineyard yields 2013’s concentrated dark fruit, infused with scented violets, in streamlined, fine-grained tannin structure. Complex, intense, well groomed & suave. Confident rebound after 2012 (4 stars, 89 pts), recalling 2011 (5 stars).’ – Platter’s SA Wine Guide, 4.5*
‘Rock-solid, with a core of dark plum, blackberry and black currant notes melding with bittersweet cocoa, tobacco and singed alder details through the finish. Reveals a buried graphite spine. This should unwind nicely with a bit of cellaring.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Sep 2016)
