About this Item
Domaine Alain Graillot is a top wine producer located in Crozes-Hermitage in the northern Rhône, becoming a benchmark for the appellation and a Syrah icon! Alain founded the Domaine in 1985, releasing his first vintage from a rented vineyard. The Domaine quickly rose to prominence and only three years after its establishment, Graillot purchased the vineyards he had been renting. The Domaine was handed over to son Maxine, but the wines continue in the same style and quality. Classically styled and able to age well for many decades, Alain sadly passed in 2022.

Critics Ratings
'This is very tight now, with a wall of iron-clad structure holding the core of blackberry, cassis and black cherry fruit in check. Notes of tar, iron and sweet tobacco lurk in the background. The long, long finish is all minerally cut. A brick-house Crozes that demands cellaring. Maybe the best vintage yet for this cuvée.' – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 94/100 (Oct 2011)
'The star of this vintage is the more limited production 2009 Crozes-Hermitage Cuvee Speciale La Guiraude. Abundant aromas of black currants, cassis, licorice, cedar wood and roasted herbs emerge from this big, medium to full-bodied effort. It should drink well for 10-15 years.' – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 93/100 (Dec 2011)
'Glass-staining ruby. An exotically perfumed bouquet shows intense dark fruit and floral qualities, with a spicy overtone. Round and deep in the mouth, offering an array of dark berry preserve and floral pastille flavors and a late note of allspice. Closes with impressive clarity and a lingering note of candied blackberry.' – Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 92/100 (Mar 2012)
