About this Item
Domaine Pierre Usseglio was created by Francis Usseglio in 1948 when he left Italy for Châteauneuf-du-Pape. His first vintage was created a year later. When Francis’s son, Pierre, took over, he expanded the vineyards greatly, and today, the area consists of 39 hectares. Half of their vines are over 65 years old, with the other half in their forties. The family business is now managed by Pierre's sons Jean-Pierre and Thierry.

‘One of the wines of this incredible vintage is unquestionably the 300-case 2007 Châteauneuf du Pape Reserve des Deux Freres from the Usseglio brothers. A big bruiser of a wine that has a huge core of cassis and black currant fruit, it gets more and more elegant with time in the glass and offers complex notes of roasted meats, garrigue, beef blood, licorice and truffle. Made from 100% Grenache aged mostly in new barrels, it’s absorbed every trace of its elevage and is just a sensational Chateauneuf du Pape to drink over the coming 10-15 years. Drink 2015 - 2032.’ – Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, 100/100 (Feb 2017)
‘Inky ruby. Expansive, seductively perfumed bouquet of black and blue fruit compote and potpourri, with suggestions of cola and spicecake. Very rich and deep in dark berry flavors but also shockingly fresh and delineated, with brighter red fruits emerging on the back end. Blends elegance and power deftly, finishing with mineral-laced red and dark fruit flavors and lingering floral notes.’ – Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 95/100 (Jan 2010)
