A pair of Japanese cloisonné enamel vases
baluster, with elongated necks, the body decorated with alternating panels of a dragon against a green ground with goldstone and a ho-o bird against a russet ground with goldstone, the neck and shoulder with intricate floral and geometric borders inlaid with panels of butterflies against alternating red and blue grounds, with a pale green base, with maker’s mark, pitting, scratches, minor chips, minor cracks, oxidisation, one with damage 3x5cm, base cracked and repaired, the other with damage to base, 29,4cm high; and a hexagonal example, ovoid with flattened sides, decorated with panels of dragons against alternating green with goldstone and black grounds, the neck and shoulder decorated with floral and geometric bands, interior and base pale green, damage and repair to neck rim 1x4cm, pitting, minor discolouration, chips, damage to interior and base, 17,5cm high
