'Light-to medium-bodied, sound ruby colours, in some vintages violet-scented bouquet and nutty on palate. 1983 scent more muted , not as gutsy. Give Vergenoegd Cabernets and Shiraz about 4 years before drinking; since late 1970's they have been made to last well, care being taken with tannin, acid and alcohol.
