The Fabulous Picture Show
About the SessionThe Fabulous Picture Show is an annual fundraising auction held by the Friends of the Tatham Art Gallery, to raise funds for the purchase of new art works for the Tatham Art Gallery permanent collection. It is essential for an art museum collection to grow on a regular basis, in order to reflect the dynamic nature of South African artistic production. Without a purchasing budget and ongoing acquisitions, the collection would remain stagnant.

Having acquired a BAFA from the University of Natal and an HED from UNISA, Heather Gourlay-Conyngham then taught Art at various schools until 2012 when she began working as a full-time artist. Gourlay-Conyngham has since had four solo exhibitions, participated in over 18 group shows, and won the first Sanlam Portrait Award in 2013.

My subject-matter, figures as well as natural and inanimate objects, is acutely observed and painstakingly rendered.”
