About this Item

2006 Brunello di Montalcino Pian della Vigne
3 (1 x 3) 1500ml

The Antinori family has been committed to the art of winemaking for over six centuries, since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri – the Florentine Winemakers’ Guild. Throughout its history, which spans an incredible twenty-six generations, the Antinori family has managed their business directly, making innovative, bold decisions while respecting their traditions and the environment. Their innovations played a pivotal part in Italy’s ‘Super-Tuscan’ revolution of the 1970s. As Marchese Piero loves to say, ‘ancient family roots play an important part in our philosophy but they have never hindered our innovative spirit.’

Critics Ratings

‘A glycerol-like texture joins licorice and menthol notes to lend this red an air of maturity, with a core of cherry and raspberry fruit. This is beautifully balanced, though the tannins will be even smoother in a few years. Fine, mineral aftertaste. Best from 2012 through 2025.’ - Bruce Sanderson, WIne Spectator, 93/100 (Aug 2011)

‘Deep, maturing ruby. Seductive, but developed nose of dark fruit and hints of tar. With air this becomes quite rich on the nose, and more fruit driven. Very concentrated and extracted on the palate, very modern, but with depth, and with lots of slightly drying tannins giving it a serious edge.’ - Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Feb 2011)
