About this Item

2006 Castello della Sala Cervaro della Sala Umbria IGGT
4 (1 x 4) 750ml

The Antinori family has been committed to the art of winemaking for over six centuries, since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri – the Florentine Winemakers’ Guild. Throughout its history, which spans an incredible twenty-six generations, the Antinori family has managed their business directly, making innovative, bold decisions while respecting their traditions and the environment. Their innovations played a pivotal part in Italy’s ‘Super-Tuscan’ revolution of the 1970s. As Marchese Piero loves to say, ‘ancient family roots play an important part in our philosophy but they have never hindered our innovative spirit.’

Critics Ratings

‘Offers complex aromas of cream, ripe apple, mineral and blanched nuts, even flowers. Full-bodied, with lots of fruit and a long, long finish. Intense and beautiful. Like a great white Burgundy. Should age incredibly well. Chardonnay and Grechetto.’ - James Suckling, Wine Spectator, 94/100 (Aug 2008)

‘Vivid straw-yellow with some gold. Oak-driven aromas of butter, hazelnut and vanilla don't dominate the nose as have other vintages of the past, allowing for the delicate banana, tangerine and herbal aromas to emerge clearly. Initially supple and quite discreet in the mouth, with good breadth to its tropical and citrus fruit flavors, this picks up a bit of oakiness with air on the long, spicy finish.’ - Ian D’Agata, Vinous, 91/100 (Jul 2009)
