About this Item
Established in 1921, Paolo Scavino is a historical winery in Barolo and has been one of Langhe’s leading and most innovative producers since the beginning. Based in the heart of Barolo, in Castiglione Faletto, the vineyard parcels are found in the perfect terroir where the elegance of La Morra meets the power of Serralunga. With Burgundy as his guide, Enrico – the current custodian and fourth-generation winemaker – vinifies all the parcels separately by way of understanding his land. ‘The Scavino family (Enrico and his daughters Enrica and Elisa) carry forth an important family legacy,’ writes Wine Advocate, ‘with a wide range of cru-specific wines that brilliantly exhibit individual styles.’ Their work is inspired by their love and respect for their territory, pursuing complex, elegant and terroir-expressive wines.

‘Though an infant, the 2007 Barolo Riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata caresses the palate with gorgeous, silky layers of red berries, flowers, and spices. The wine dazzles with expressive inner perfume and sweet, refined tannins that frame the exquisite finish. This is another head-spinning, hugely promising Barolo from Scavino.’ - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 96+/100 (Feb 2011)
‘Despite the excessively hot vintage, this is a compelling Riserva from one of La Morra's top vineyards, crafted by a master Barolo maker. The fragrance shows ripe plum and floral notes, while the palate delivers ripe black fruit laced with cinnamon and Alpine herbs. With its lovely depth and balance, this is almost ready now.’ - Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, 94/100 (Sept 2013)
