About this Item
Nederburg is considered by many to be South Africa’s most decorated name in wine and their achievements and accolades can match up to any other estate in the nation. Established in 1791 by Philippus Wolvaart and his wife, Margaretha, they laid the foundations for future success on a farm situated between the Berg and Palmiet rivers. Amongst their many accolades, highlights include Platter’s guide awarding them winery of the year in 2011 and 2017 and placing 36th in the ‘most admired wine brand in the world’ by the esteemed Drinks International in 2017.
Perhaps the most celebrated Nederburg wines are the sweet wines of Edelkeur and Eminence but the German-styled Noble Late Harvest Riesling is even more rare. The ‘penetrating fruit acids’ have integrated into a beautifully mature and savoury/sweet wine. A South Africa Classic that has aged with grace. The Edelkeur made from Chenin Blanc was only available previously at the Nederburg Auction.

Critics Ratings
‘The 1979 Edelkeur (Auction Wine) is a sweet Chenin Blanc. It has a dark brown color, but don’t let that put you off as the nose is quite attractive with grilled walnut, lanolin, marmalade and waxy notes. The palate is sharp and citric on the entry with good tension, plenty of marmalade, quince and honey with good definition and focus on the finish. This is an impressive Chenin Blanc for the "archives."’ - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 91/100
