Literature
Fox, Justin (2000) The Life and Art of François Krige, Vlaeberg, Fernwood Press, illustrated on page 35 with the title 'Fishermen (Almeira).
'It is in his contemporary etchings that the fruit of his learning is most apparent....We see Almeria's fishing harbour with the fortress walls behind and old men mending nets. In these images his training as a woodcarver is apparent in the heavy, 'sculpted' figures hatched in a web of dark lines. The scenes appear timeless, Rembrandtesque, the images consciously and nostalgically in contrast with the strife and change that was tearing Spain apart at the time of etching (1936)." Page 33.
