About this Item
Domaine Trimbach is a 400-year-old family business and produces, arguably, ‘the single most admired dry Riesling made anywhere’ according to Jancis Robinson. This bastion of classical winemaking has, over 13 generations, become ‘the most famous Riesling estate in all Alsace’ writes Wine Advocate. Today, the property is run by the 12th generation who continue the tradition of terroir-driven, dry Rieslings. Their most famous wine, Clos Sainte Hune is sourced from a 1.67-hectare plot within the Rosacker Grand Cru, which has been family-owned for more than 200 years. Wine Advocate writes that consumers find the Clos Sainte Hune to be ‘one of the finest dry Rieslings on the planet’.

Critics Ratings
‘Issuing as usual from selected vineyards in Hunawihr, Ribeauville and Bergheim (in that last case, from a site next to the Altenberg) Trimbach’s 2010 Riesling Reserve adds a mouthwatering and intriguing iodine and oyster liquor character to the salinity, alkalinity, and bright citrus that characterized the corresponding classic bottling. The refreshment, energy, and mineral persistence here are truly formidable, and despite firmness, high acidity, and youthfulness, the wine does not come off as austere. It also represents excellent value, and should prove well-worth following through at least 2025.’ – David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, 92/100 (Aug 2014)
‘Pale straw-green. Refined aromas of green apple, jasmine, thyme and anise. Flavors of lichee and minerals are given punch by mouthwatering acidity. This represents a much smaller cuvee than the entry-level riesling but there are still typically 3,500 to 4,000 cases produced. I found this to have more than a passing resemblance to the Riesling Frederic Emile in this vintage.’ – Ian D’Agata, Vinous, 91+/100 (Nov 2012)
‘Delicate, yet backed by focused acidity, offering subtle notes of chamomile, pink grapefruit, almond skin, pine needle and green apple, with a lingering, spice- and mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2020.’ – Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, 90/100 (Oct 2012)
