About this Item
Château Lafon-Rochet is located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation within the Bordeaux wine region of France. Saint-Estèphe is situated in the northern part of the Médoc peninsula, on the Left Bank of the Gironde River. The estate has a long history dating back to the 17th century. It was originally part of a larger estate called Château de La Rochette, which was divided into smaller properties over time. Château Lafon-Rochet has undergone significant improvements and modernization under the ownership of the Tesseron family, who acquired the estate in 1959. Since then, the Tesseron family has invested in vineyard management, cellar upgrades, and other improvements to enhance the quality of the wines. The Tesseron family sold Château Lafon-Rochet to French-Swiss real-estate investor Jacky Lorenzetti in 2021.
Lafon-Rochet 2000 from Saint-Estèphe is a high-quality, age-worthy wine that exemplifies the best characteristics of both the estate and the exceptional 2000 vintage.

Critics Ratings
‘The 2000 Lafon-Rochet is a vintage that I have not encountered for many years. Now showing some bricking on the rim, it has quite an exotic bouquet with maraschino cherry, strawberry, balsamic and brown spices, nicely defined and holding up well. The palate is medium-bodied and well-balanced, with grainy tannins. Maybe a little dryness is beginning to creep in, yet there is a fine grip and a long tobacco finish.’ – Neal Martin, Vinous, 90/100 (Jun 2021)
‘‘Still deep crimson. Lots of evolution on the nose. Quite chunky and stony and very St-Estèphe. Correct and upright. Still going strong. Lots of chunky tannin.’ – Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Jul 2017)
A very dense, quite opulent plum-scented nose with briary, blueberry, a touch of hoi sin and macerated cherries. Good lift and definition. Full-bodied, rich, dense black fruits with thick chewy tannins. Dense structure, great weight and persistency with a succulent blackberry finish. Still very primal with a long future ahead. Superb. Drink 2012-2025.’ – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 92/100 (Oct 2007)
‘Concentrated wine. Intense aromas of grilled meat, spice and plum skin. Full-bodied, with big silky tannins and lots of fruit. Long and chewy. Best after 2007.’ – Wine Spectator, 91/100 (Mar 2003)
