About this Item
Château Sénéjac, in the far south of the Médoc, close to the vineyards of Margaux, is owned and run by the same family behind Château Talbot and has been since 1999. The estate has long been known for producing excellent value wines and its history dates at least as far back as the 16th century. The estate itself is huge, totaling over 150 hectares, however only 41 of these are planted with vines. The Médoc commune of Le Pian has similar gravelly soils to Margaux, which are well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot; Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot are also grown.
The vineyard is situated in one large plot on a plateau overlooking the commune of Le Pian. It covers 41 hectares of the 150ha estate, and is planted with 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. The vines are now farmed biodynamically.

Critics Ratings
‘Perfumed, almost new world nose of blueberry and blackberry jam. Lively and zesty yet wonderfully soft, with finely honed tannins and a fresh, long finish. Super-enjoyable!’ – Decanter.com, 92/100 (Oct 2018)
‘This chateau is under the same ownership as Saint-Julien's Château Talbot. The wine is firm, fruity, rich and concentrated, showing all the best qualities of 2010. There is a complex array of black fruits which are sustained by the firm, solid tannins. Age for at least 6–7 years.’ – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 93/100 (Feb 2013)
‘Lively deep crimson. Leathery nose. Round and supple and surprisingly low in tannins. Really rather sophisticated. Lovely fresh, appetising quality to this very friendly, cool wine. Super clean.’ – Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Sep 2012)
‘The Senejac has a superb bouquet with vigorous blackberry, wild strawberry and tobacco-tinged aromas that soar from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy, dry tannins. There is plenty of substance here with a dash of black pepper and cedar on the finish. Very St. Estephe like: this is an excellent cru bourgeois. Drink now-2018.’ – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 91/100 (Nov 2012)
