About this Item
With a long history going as far back as the 15th century, Château Suduiraut is found in the commune of Preignac, in Sauternes, and shares a border with Château d'Yquem. In 1855, the estate was classed as a Premier Cru during the official wine classification program in the Gironde winegrowing area. Since 1992, Suduiraut has been under the same ownership as Château Pichon-Longueville and Château Petit-Village. Inspired by the great Suduiraut wines of the past, the new management has enabled this great vineyard to fulfil its full potential.
First Growth. Premier Cru Classe in 1855. Sometimes refered to as 'Ancien Cru du Roy' as displayed on older labels.
As is often the case in top Sauternes estates, harvest is done in "tries" (successive passes through the vineyard) to make sure all the bunches are at optimum levels of botrytis when picked, and only the best botrytis-affected grapes make it into the Château Suduiraut grand vin.

Critics Ratings
‘Golden hue. Sweet but less complexity and a little more low-key than the surrounding vintages. Lighter weight but the acidity brings a zesty freshness to the palate. Drinking now but probably not for the long haul.’ – James Lawther MW, Jancis Robinson.com, 16.8/20 (Nov 2023)
‘Again, that barley sugar note comes through giving it a Barsac, harmonious with a little mandarin and some lemon curd. Still a little tight. The palate is balanced with ripe honeyed fruit, orange rind and a touch of Seville orange marmalade. Nice taut finish with good acidity, the mineralite compensating for a lack of depth. Very fine for the vintage.’ – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 91/100 (Sep 2011)
‘Ultraclean, with apple, vanilla and honey aromas that follow through to a full-bodied palate, medium sweetness and a long, caressing finish. Delicate and balanced. Best after 2007.’ – Decanter.com, 90/100 (Jul 2006)
