About this Item

2010, 2011 Isliedh
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Cape Point Vineyards is an award-winning wine estate nestled between the fynbos, vineyards and the Atlantic ocean in Noordhoek, Western Cape. On the white wine front, Wine Spectator seems to agree with Neal Martin that Cape Point Vineyards is the go-to address for top Sauvignon Blanc. Their serious Sauvignons are up there with the finest whites in the country, displaying focus, minerality, tension and depth.

This lot consists of the following wines:
Cape Point Isliedh 2010 (2 x 750ml)
Cape Point Isliedh 2011 (4 x 750ml)

Produced from vineyards established by Rosa Kruger, the Cape Point Vineyards Isliedh is sourced from south-facing vineyards situated high on the Cape Point peninsula overlooking Noordhoek. This harsh, marginal climate is prefect for the production of characterful wines and is responsible for one of SA’s finest white wines. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, it is an age-worthy, multiple award-winning South African benchmark. For a wine of this quality and pedigree, it is incredible value.

Critics Ratings

2010:
‘75% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Sémillon and 10 months in 50% new French oak. Funky and grassy with a creamed corn flavour. Rounded and complex, structural and refreshing. Impressive.’ – Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Sep 2012)

‘This distinctive white deftly mixes Jonagold apple and melon fruit with more bracing tarragon and gooseberry hints, all backed by strong chamomile and quinine notes on the racy finish. Should develop nicely with modest cellaring. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Drink now through 2014.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 93/100 (May 2012)

‘One of Cape’s consistently highly rated white blends. 2010 is a sauvignon (75%), semillon mix. A clean flintiness adds tension to subtly oaked nectarine & lime flavours. Delicious, with good complexity & length, as in brilliant 2009 (5 stars).’ - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2012, 4.5*

‘The 2010 Isliedh Sauvignon Blanc remains a fabulous Sauvignon Blanc with unbridled honeysuckle and dried apricot notes to the fore and the palate a little crisper than I remember from last year. There are some gorgeous passion fruit and lemon thyme notes on the refined finish. This is just a superb Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now-2016.’ – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 93/100 (Dec 2012)

2011:
‘A blend of 87% Sauvignon Blanc and 13% Semillon, the nose showed top notes of citrus blossom and fynbos before black currant, peach and red apple with a touch of mushroom in the background. The palate meanwhile possessed extraordinary poise – wonderfully pure fruit and fresh acidity before a long and savoury finish. Still many years ahead of it.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 95/100 (Feb 2018)

‘Acclaimed Bordeaux-style white blend more concentrated in 2011 than 2010. Sauvignon’s spicy melange of stonefruit & herb flavours enhanced by semillon (most ever - 30%) & new oak. As ever, complexity, depth & balance for a rewarding future.’ - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2013, 4.5*
