Founded in 1998 by Luis Valentin and Carmen Enciso, the winery is dedicated to producing limited quantities of high-quality, terroir-driven wines that showcase the essence of Rioja. It was highly regarded by Robert Parker with its powerful, modern style. The winery's vineyards, situated in the Rioja Alta, are primarily planted with Tempranillo grapes. Valenciso's meticulous approach to winemaking, including long aging in French oak barrels, results in wines that are powerful, elegant, and age-worthy.

‘I was quite pleasantly surprised by the 2011 Reserva, a wine from an extremely warm year when ripe and excessively developed wines abound. This 2011 seems to have improved with bottle age, and its elegant and balanced side definitely wins over the ripeness of the year. The oak feels very integrated and the palate terribly balanced. ‘Limpid ruby-red. Smoke-tinged aromas of candied cherry and singed plum, along with building vanilla and espresso accents. Juicy and supple on the palate, offering concentrated and appealingly sweet red and blue fruit and spicecake flavors that deepen slowly on the back half.
