‘From Piekenierskloof, bunch fermented in concrete ‘egg’. 2017 pure aromatic floral, lightly fruity charm, with a dry stony minerality giving a more austere elegance to the subtle depth & delicate generosity of the fresh palate. Riper richness than previously.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2019, 4.5* (94/100)
‘Piekenierskloof fruit selection. Deliciously stony with pithy white citrus, peach stone and crushed granite minerality. Very pure and elegant. Lovely subtle yellow sour plum finish. Fabulous.’ – Greg Sherwood MW, 94/100 (Mar 2019)
‘Grapes from a Piekenierskloof vineyard. An elusive yet enticing nose showing pear, white peach, yellow apple and citrus overlain with floral and herbal notes. In the mouth, the flavours unfurl – great front, side and back palate. Light and graceful, lovely freshness and just a little grip on the finish.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 95/100 (May 2018)
‘Mostly concrete egg-fermented, with some older barrels and skin contact, this comes from a vineyard at 700 metres and juggles focus and zip with nectarine and citrus fruit flavours. 2019-23’ - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 93/100
‘The 2017 Grenache Blanc comes from a 0.5-hectare parcel of ungrafted vines and was matured in two concrete eggs and one amphora. It is very well defined on the nose, featuring scents of white flowers, cold granite and hints of lemon curd. The palate is very well defined, with veins of lemongrass on the entry. It is beguiling in terms of harmony and comes packed full of flavor, offering ginger and dried orange peel toward the waxy-textured finish. You can imagine half of New York’s sommeliers going ga-ga for this, and rightly so, because it is simply a delicious South African white.’ – Neal Martin, Vinous, 94/100 (Aug 2018)
