The Loire
About the SessionAn eclectic selection of interesting and super rare vintages from the Loire Valley. Rich in ancient limestone and silex soils, the Loire valley is known for their passionate, historic family producers, many of them farming organically, and forming the spiritual cradle of noble varieties including the likes of Sauvignon blanc in the famous appellations of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume in the continental east, through the Chenins from Vouvray, and Cabernet Franc from Chinon and Saumur further downstream to the west. Brimming with variety and value, the catalogue includes highly collectable lots from acclaimed classics like Domaine Huet, Alphonse Mellot, Henri Bourgeois and Thierry Germain.

Critics Ratings
'One of the top wines from Henri Bourgeois, this is rich and ageworthy. Its green and white fruits push through a concentrated structure to give a dense wine with ripeness and great elegance.’ - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 94/100 (Sep 2012)
‘This has lots of cut and verve, with lime, chive, flint and gooseberry notes crackling along, backed by a rapier finish where the flint edge ultimately wins out. Very solid. Drink now through 2015.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Nov 2012)
‘The Bourgeois 2010 Sancerre Jadis exhibits intensely pungent and almost candied mintiness that mingles in the nose with lanolin and resin notes from barrel. Silken-textured but tartly informed by apple and lime along with mouthwatering salinity, it finishes with considerable bitterness on top of chalky and peppery notes, for an impressively persistent if far from winsome effect. This is certainly Sauvignon with an attitude! I have the feeling that the lees have been beneficial in buffering tart and bitter elements here that would otherwise have become entirely excessive and deleterious.’ – David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, 90/100 (Jun 2012)
