About this Item

2013 Clos de Vougeot
2 (1 x 2) 750ml

Established in Vougeot in 1962 by Alain Hudelot, Domaine Hudelot-Noellat has quietly risen to the top echelon of Cote de Nuits producers. In 2008, Alain retired and his grandson Charles van Canneyt took over, making wines of great refinement and complexity. They farm sustainably on their 10 ha of vineyards planted across 15 different appellations, spread over the villages of Nuits-Saint-George, Vougeot, Chambolle- Musigny and Vosne-Romane´e. This includes the Grands Crus Romane´e-Saint-Vivant, Richebourg and Clos de Vougeot. Hudelot-Noe¨llat is known for its old vines which average more than 50 years old with several vineyards dating back to 1920. The Hudelot-Noe¨llat wines are always the most elegant in a line-up. Their fresh acidity, deft use of oak and terroir-driven style appeals to the traditional Burgundy-lover seeking long-ageing wines.

The Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru vineyard is one of the most renowned and prestigious vineyard sites in Burgundy. Located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, this historic vineyard covers approximately 50 hectares and is famous for producing complex, age-worthy Pinot Noir wines.

Critics Ratings

‘The 2013 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru felt rather stemmy on the nose, especially when compared to others in this flight, although it improves with aeration and gains cohesion. A hint of Earl Grey perhaps? The palate is medium-bodied with firm, almost rigid tannin. The acidity is well judged and lends this a sense of natural balance and poise, which particularly comes through on the tensile finish. This is a very fine Clos Vougeot made with a deft hand. Tasted September 2016.’ - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 93/100 (Nov 2016)

‘Mid ruby. Some spicy evolution on the nose. Round and easy. Relatively sweet and lightweight – and developed. A bit unambitious for a grand cru however much fun it already delivers. Which is considerable. But as a Clos de Vougeot it doesn’t quite cut the mustard.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Oct 2015)

'Bright, deep red. Very pure, vibrant aromas of black cherry, dark berries and fresh herbs. Surprisingly pliant and round for young Clos Vougeot, with saline and spice notes adding interest to the black cherry and licorice flavors. Offers lovely restrained sweetness and balance. Finishes supple and long, with firm but ripe tannins and very good saline persistence.' - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 91-93/100 (Nov 2014)
