'The 2013 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a well defined and quite earthy bouquet, plenty of sous-bois character here, gently unfolding in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit, fine tannins and a harmonious, caressing finish that demonstrates assiduous use of new oak. Everything just seems too effortless in this delightful Charmes-Chambertin from Armand Rousseau.' - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 93/100 (Nov 2016)
'Great energy and verve on the nose, but this sample is rather volatile. Dry, earthy palate, though there's characteristic fruit underneath. Unclear prognosis on this evidence.' - Alex Hunt MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Jan 2015)
'This has that interesting just turned earth, forest floor and humus character that some Gevrey-based wines display that adds plenty of breadth to the very fresh red currant and dark berry suffused nose. There is fine richness and volume to the delicious, intense and muscular broad-shouldered flavors that possess very fine depth on the balanced and lingering finish where the supporting tannins are dense but fine. This is better than it usually is and this is one of the wines in the Rousseau stable that has shown marked improvement over the last few vintages.' - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 91-93/100 (Jan 2015)
