Synonymous with the history of the Stellenbosch wine region and a revolutionary producer in SA wine, Simonsig is owned by the Malan family. Frans Malan co-founded the thriving Stellenbosch Wine Route and son Johan Malan as been winemaker since 1981.
Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel is a well-known South African sparkling wine, often recognized for its quality and historical significance. It holds the distinction of being the first bottle-fermented sparkling wine produced in South Africa, made in the traditional Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) style, which is similar to the traditional method used in Champagne, France.
