About this Item

2008 Kaapse Vonkel
1 (1 x 1) 3000ml

Synonymous with the history of the Stellenbosch wine region and a revolutionary producer in SA wine, Simonsig is owned by the Malan family. Frans Malan co-founded the thriving Stellenbosch Wine Route and son Johan Malan as been winemaker since 1981.

Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel is a well-known South African sparkling wine, often recognized for its quality and historical significance. It holds the distinction of being the first bottle-fermented sparkling wine produced in South Africa, made in the traditional Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) style, which is similar to the traditional method used in Champagne, France.

Critics Ratings

‘Green-apple note & subtle raspberry hint on early tasting of creamy 2008 from pinot, chard, dash of pinot meunier. Little of desirable developed brioche character, but perhaps in yr/2. WO W Cape.’ - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2011, 4*
