About this Item
Domaine des Dieux is a boutique family-run wine farm, bought in 2002 by two wine lovers with a dream. Sharon Parnell and Peter Clarke has transformed what was once sheep pastures, into 28Ha of vineyards, producing premium award winning wines. A combination of good quality grapes, much patience and a love of champagne set the stage for Domaine des Dieux to officially become the first producer of Methode Cap Classique in the Hemel-en-Aarde region.
Producer notes: Claudia is a traditional method bottle fermented sparkling wine made from Chardonnay (80%) and Pinot noir (20%). Following fermentation in bottle, the wine spends 72 months on its lees, developing creamy, brioche notes, and refining its mousse. We source the grapes for the base wines from the cool Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge and a parcel from Botrivier. The coolness of these areas allow us to produce base wines that are reserved and austere in their youth, but have the ability to blossom with time.

Critics Ratings
‘79% Chardonnay, 21% Pinot Noir. 84 months on the lees. Pale straw in colour. Pear, peach, lemon and apple on the nose while the palate is lean and fresh with a fine mousse, the finish long and dry. Poised and still remarkably youthful. Alc: 12%.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 93/100 (Nov 2023)
‘80% chardonnay with pinot noir, 2011 bubbly still fresh, youthful, shows green apple & shortbread with hint of butterscotch from brief barrel contact. Lovely creamy mousse, crisp finish.’ - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2018, 4*
‘Claudia is a cuvée of Chardonnay with 21% Pinot Noir that spends 45 months on lees before disgorgement. It’s a dry, savoury style made entirely with fruit from the Hemel en Aarde Ridge. Taut and almost austere, with a balanced finish, it has the potential to age further in bottle. 2017-21’ - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2017, 90/100
