About this Item
Nicolas Potel is the son of Gérard Potel – a Burgundy icon who was the manager and a shareholder of La Pousse d'Or in Volnay. After his father’s death, Nicolas started Maison Nicolas Potel where he sourced high quality grapes and produced a very large number of different wines. Nicolas lost his maison, which still bears his name, and started again. Today he focuses on smaller quantities and produces high-quality wines.
The Nicolas Potel Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts is a prestigious wine from the Vosne-Romanée appellation, specifically from the 1er Cru vineyard Aux Malconsorts. This vineyard is one of the most esteemed in Vosne-Romanée, producing wines that are often compared to the grand crus of the region.

Critics Ratings
‘Here the nose is ripe but is dominated by distinct floral notes, particularly violet and rose petal plus red and dark berry fruit aromas that complement the textured, intense and more obviously muscled bigbodied flavors that deliver more power but less depth and about the same length. We’ll see with time but despite the serious punch, it would appear that the Gaudichots is the more gifted of the two.’ – Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 90-92/100 (Jan 2007)
