About this Item

2009 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses
2 (1 x 2) 750ml

Domaine Robert Groffier Père & Fils is a winery in the Morey-Saint-Denis commune of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. A majority of the producer's vineyards are in Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin where it makes a range of grand and premier cru wines, mostly from Burgundy's prized red variety, Pinot Noir. The domaine has been in the Groffier family since the 19th Century when it was established by Frederick Groffier. Robert Groffier took over in the mid-20th Century and the estate began to bottle its own wine.

Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses is one of the most revered Premier Cru vineyards in Burgundy, situated within the Chambolle-Musigny appellation. It is renowned for producing wines of exceptional quality and finesse, characterized by their elegance, complexity, and aging potential.

Critics Ratings

‘Good full red. Inviting, slightly liqueur-like aromas of red fruits, flowers, spices, roasted herbs, burnt sugar, licorice and pepper. Broad and silky-sweet in the mouth, with spice and pepper treble notes giving the wine a surprisingly light touch for such a large-scaled Amoureuses. Finishes with dusty tannins and classic dryness.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 92/100 (Mar 2012)

‘In contrast to its 1er siblings, this is really quite pretty and while there was a trace of reduction at first, it disappeared within 3 minutes so it's a non-issue for the Amoureuses. Otherwise, the nose is really quite pretty with the hallmark spice and wet stone nuances that add depth to the ripe yet cool and elegant red berry fruit aromas. There is a supple and very Chambollesque quality to the refined and utterly delicious medium-bodied flavors that offer good if not truly sensational depth and length. This is also relatively forward and while it will certainly age, I was surprised at how civilized it is already.’ - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 91/100 (Jan 2012)

‘The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses is a bit unusual for this site. The fruit shows more depth, concentration and overt richness than most wines from this vineyard. The signature perfume emerges with time, but this remains a wine essentially built on an intense core of fruit. Groffier used 10% stems here. The finish shows a little heat, which is the only thing that keeps the score from going higher.’ - Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, 93/100 (May 2011)
