About this Item
Domaine Sylvain Cathiard, located in Burgundy, was established in the 1930s by Sylvain’s grandfather. When Sylvain’s father took over in 1969, Sylvain began renting the family’s vines to make his own wine. He then took over in 1995, when his father retired, and was joined by his son, Sebastien, in the late 2000s. They own highly-regarded vineyards in Vosne-Romanée including, amongst others, a small parcel of Romanée-Saint Vivant.

Critics Ratings
'Chestnut nose. Sleek and lively and charming. Much more substantial than the Nuits-St-Georges Aux Murgers. Very good balance. Lots of fruit to compensate for the fine tannins. Delightful.' - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com 17+/20 (Jan 2003)
'A touch of wood frames a maturing nose of secondary fruit, spice, earth and hints of dried rose petal leads to dense and quite serious middle weight flavors that possess a taut muscularity and plenty of palate soaking dry extract that really coats the mouth on the gorgeously long and impeccably well-balanced finish. This is a stunner of a Malconsorts that has just arrived on the front edge of its peak drinkability and as such, it should continue to provide much pleasure and satisfaction for years to come. In a word, terrific. Tasted several times with consistent notes.' - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 94/100 (Apr 2004)
'Great depth on nose. Animal, leather/savoury. Good definition. Lush sensuous palate. Subtle new oak. Concentrated with sweet red fruit. Slight bitter finish but very impressive.' - Tom Cannavan, wine-pages.com, 92/100 (2003)
