About this Item
Based in Meursault, between the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Volnay, Henri Boillot is at the epicentre of great winemaking. The Boillots have been tending vines and making wines since 1885. Henri joined in 1975, bought out his siblings in 2005 and his son Guillaume joined in 2008. It totals 19 hectares, planted almost equally to red and white. Included herein, are 4 hectares of the famous monopole vineyard Clos de la Mouchère, which has developed a cult following. In a very short space of time, they have built an extraordinary reputation for the sheer quality of their Burgundies, it is no surprise that Allen Meadows thinks this superstar producer ‘has arguably become the finest pure négoce specializing in white Burgundy today’.

Critics Ratings
'Hugely rich and well sculpted. This wine does seem to be of grand cru quality. There is real concentration and structure here.' - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Jan 2013)
'An utterly mesmerizing wine, the 2011 Corton-Charlemagne conquers all of the senses with its grace and harmony. Lemon oil, white flowers, pears and crushed rocks are some of the many notes that are woven together in the glass. The 2011 is perfumed, sublime and drop-dead gorgeous from the very first taste. With time, though, the wine blossoms beautifully as it fills out its broad-shouldered frame with tons of style.' - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 96/100 (Sep 2013)
'As with several wines in the range there is an intense note of mineral reduction along with green apple, pear and spiced herbal tea scents. There is extraordinary size, weight and intensity to the astonishingly concentrated and overtly muscular flavors that coat the palate with dry extract before culminating in a stunningly persistent finish. This is one big and powerful wine yet once again there is absolutely no trace of heaviness. It's relatively rare to have a Corton-Charlemagne that can rival a first-rate Montrachet but here is one such example.' - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 95/100 (Jun 2013)
