About this Item
Domaine Jacques Prieur is a relatively large Burgundy producer that makes both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from esteemed vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The history of the domaine began in the 1860s, with the marriage of Claude Duvergey and Marie Taboureau. They first established the wine and spirits merchant business, Duvergey-Taboureau House, before buying property in Meursault – now the site of the modern Jacques Priuer daomine. Beginning in the late 1800s and continuing into the 20th Century, the family began investing in viticulture and purchasing vineyards, establishing vines in what have become some of the most sought after appellations in the Côte d'Or.
The 1995 Jacques Prieur Chevalier-Montrachet is a white Burgundy from one of the most prestigious vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France. Chevalier-Montrachet is a Grand Cru vineyard renowned for producing some of the finest Chardonnay in the world.

Critics Ratings
'Regrettably, only 50 cases of the magnificent 1995 Chevalier-Montrachet were produced. A tight but floral and minerally nose gives way to a stunningly well-delineated, silky-textured, full-bodied wine. Within its refined character, readers will find complex, layers of minerals, stones, flowers, white pepper, baking spices and touches of ginger bread.. This spectacular wine's profound finish is a show stopper. It will be at its peak between 2002-2015. As my scores and tasting notes indicate, I was tremendously impressed with the quality of Prieur's wines. What had been an average-to-good estate has rapidly become one of Burgundy's finest domaines' - Pierre Rovani, Wine Advocate, 95/100 (Aug 1997)
'Divine. Superrich and ripe. Supple in texture, with complex mocha, chocolate and spice accents, well-integrated oak. Full-bodied and concentrated, with excellent intensity, fresh acidity, flawless finish. Tempting now. Best from 2005 through 2010.' - Wine Spectator, 95/100 (Aug 1997)
