About this Item
Domaine des Comtes Lafon built its legendary reputation on white wines. Best known as the namesake, director, and winemaker of one of the great estates of Meursault, Dominique is a descendant of Jules Lafon, who created the revered wine festival, La Paulée. Established early in the 20th century, the estate was based in Meursault originally. Thereafter, the family acquired parcels of Montrachet as well as three of the best vineyards in Volnay. After taking over the family domaine in the 80s, Dominique revitalised its red and white winemaking approach. In 1999, Dominique decided to extend the vineyard holdings to the Mâconnais appellation which now comprises of 21 ha known as Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon.
Dominique Lafon is firstly known for his Domaine des Comtes Lafon in Meursault, and now owns the Domaine des Héritiers du Comte Lafon in Milly Lamartine, in the Mâcon region, where he has introduced organic and biodynamic farming. In the cellar, the vinification is traditional and parcel-based. The wines produced correspond to the primary ambition of his adventure, that of reflecting the expression of each terroir with the aim of raising the white wines of southern Burgundy to the top.

Critics Ratings
‘The 2015 Macon Chardonnay Clos de la Crochette has an enticing bouquet with hints of almond and walnut infusing the citrus fruit, nicely defined with good lift, quite generous compared to others. The palate is well balanced, a little more rounded in texture, with fresh citrus lemon and lime on the entry, It comes across as being quite saline toward the finish that feels lilting and nonchalant, so I recommend enjoying this over the next six or seven years.’ – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 90/100 (Aug 2017)
‘A ripe version, exuding pear, peach, butterscotch and spice flavors. Broad and powerful, ending with mouthwatering acidity. Opulent and long. Drink now through 2020.’ – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 91/100 (Jul 2017)
‘Pale, bright yellow. Orange zest and brown spices on the perfumed nose. A silky, dense fruit bomb with a light touch. Wonderfully lively stone fruit and spice flavors carry through a dry, long finish. This wine has a totally different grain from the other 2015s at this address: slightly dusty and phenolic but not at all bitter. Lovely Chardonnay.’ – Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 90/100 (Sep 2016)
