About this Item
Richard Kershaw - Clonal Selection Syrah 2016 (6 x 750ml)
A subtle, precise style, built on fine tannins that educe harmony, freshness with flavours of black skinned fruit, iodine and ground white peppercorns. Richard Kershaw MW, crafted this Syrah from 5 small parcels within the Elgin Valley to show a sense of place and showcase Elgin’s unique terroir. The 2016 vintage produced wines with deep colours and a lifted black fruit flavour profile, thanks to a dry and warm growing season. Despite softer acidity, the wines showcase high fruit concentration and supple, pliant tannins, reflecting the challenges and benefits of the year’s weather conditions.
Richard Kershaw - Clonal Selection Pinot Noir 2019 (6 x 750ml)
Richard Kershaw MW, crafted this Pinot Noir from French clones PN777, PN115, and PN113 to show a sense of place and showcase Elgin’s unique terroir. With 22% new oak, this wine shows captivating floral attributes underscored by purity, focus and freshness framed by fine powder tannins yet cushioned by a succulent texture and flavours of black cherry, pomegranate, rose petal and raspberry. The 2019 vintage is characterized by lower yields and high-quality Pinot Noir, thanks to a cooler growing season that allowed for gradual flavour development and enhanced freshness. With elevated malic acids, the resulting wines exhibit fantastic colour, elegant structures, and refined tannins, showcasing a balance of fruit and acidity.
Richard Kershaw - Deconstructed CY548 Chardonnay 2017 (1 x 1.5L)
Richard Kershaw MW set out to prove that Elgin has both a signature grape, as well as specific ‘terroirs’ (meso-climates) that reflect intra-regional distinctions. To fully comprehend this, it is necessary to dig deeper into the DNA that make up Elgin’s region. To elucidate this, he decided to make Chardonnay wines that have been selected from a specific vineyard and an individual clone. Sourced from the foothills of the Groenland Mountain in Northern Elgin this clone has been taken from Corton-Charlemagne cuttings. It produces wines that have aromatics oscillating between lemon blossom, white flowers, petrichor and struck stone. Full in body they exude concentration with white stone fruit yet reinforced with an austere texture and robustness that makes for excellent aging potential. The Bokkeveld Shale soils adds structure and concentration to the flavour.
