La Motte Hanneli R is produced from hand-harvested grapes, selected exclusively when a vintage yields exceptional quality.

2012: The wine is a blend of Syrah (60%), Grenache (30%) and Petit Syrah (10%). This exceptional wine features a distinctive nose of rose petals, blackberry, mulberry, cinnamon, and black pepper, showcasing depth, complexity, and elegance from 40 months of wood maturation.

2017: The wine is a blend of Syrah (58%), Grenache (22%) and Petite Syrah (20%). Drought and mild temperatures contributed towards the retention of flavours and varietal characteristics. The cool-climate perfume flavours are complemented by wood flavours on the nose, while the elegant palate shows pepper spice. The wine was matured in 600-litre oak barrels for 30 months.

2019: The wine is a blend of Syrah (60%), Petit Syrah (36%), and Viognier (4%). This wine consists of a blend of the best wines from the vintage. Spicy and perfumy Syrah from Cape Agulhas is blended with fruity and creamy Syrah from Franschhoek. Petit Syrah is added for intensity and colour, while Viognier contributes extra floral perfume. The wine was aged in 600-litre barrels for 36 months.
