Notes
Louis van Heerden is a South African artist whose early works, as featured in the present lot, reveal a strong leaning toward abstraction. He began his teaching career at Pretoria Boys High School, where notable artists Walter Battiss and Larry Scully also taught. A dedicated figure in the local art scene, he joined the South African Art Association and later served as its president. While his later work often focused on intimate interior scenes with floral arrangements, his early abstractions highlight a dynamic and exploratory phase of his artistic journey.
