Two lacquered papier-mâché boxes, Kuvaevs & Co, Russia, 20th century
each rectangular, one painted with a young lady in traditional attire gazing at her reflection by candlelight against a black ground, enclosed by a dotted gilt frame, the other painted with the portrait of a lady in a plumed hat, the sides painted with gilt scrolling foliage, raised on four incorporated feet, with Cyrillic mark to the interior and numbered 1659 and 1931 respectively, the larger 4cm high, 8,1cm wide, 10,2cm deep
