About this Item
Boekenhoutskloof, located in the Franschhoek valley, was established in 1776 and gets its name 'Boekenhout' from an indigenous Beech tree. Boekenhoutskloof, managed by Marc Kent, describes themself as a Syrah specialist. Their efforts in conservation can be seen through initiatives they have taken-on in their farm and surrounding areas. They are also a founding member of the Franschhoek Mountain Conservancy.
Made from selected parcels of Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards planted on the north-western facing slopes of the Helderberg mountain and south-eastern facing slope of the Polkadraai Hills.

Critics Ratings
‘Multi-layered 2015, with 14% Cabernet Franc, blue and black fruit, old polished leather, smoke and fresh herbs swathed in vanilla oak cloak. Leaner than the Franschhoek version, yet good balance of energy, depth and fruit sweetness. 60% new oak, 20 months.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2018, 4.5* (92/100)
‘The second vintage of this Stellenbosch release is every bit as good as the 2014. Sourced from three parcels on the Helderberg, all of them on sandstone soils, it’s a sweet, plush, scented Cabernet with stylish oak, plenty of grassy perfume and good underlying structure and concentration. 2020-29.’ - Tim Atkin SA Special Report 2017, 94/100
