About this Item
The estate of Léoville Poyferré dates back to 1638 when it was the largest domain in the Médoc. The estate’s vineyard practices were well ahead of their time, and are in fact still widely used today. Léoville Poyferré was recognized as a Second Classified Growth in 1855 and has always been one of the most prestigious estates of this terroir.

Critics Ratings
‘Having retreated into its shell, the deep garnet colored 2009 Léoville Poyferré gives up slowly revealing notions of cigar boxes, pencil lead, charcoal, rose hip tea and fragrant earth with a core of preserved plums, crème de cassis, espresso and Indian spices. Full, rich, seductive and voluptuously fruited in the mouth, the palate features firm yet beautifully velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long and spicy.’ - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, 98/100 (Mar 2019)
‘An immensely structured wine, packed with dark tannins promising aging potential. It is complex, powerful, layered with new wood and concentration, finishing with dark plum fruits and acidity.’ - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 96/100 (Feb 2012)
