Notes

French art dealer Ambroise Vollard commissioned several sculptures from artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir in 1916. Richard Guino made plaster maquettes according to Renoir’s instructions but an edition was never cast during the artist’s lifetime. In 1958, the heirs of Renoir and Vollard authorised an edition and it was cast by La Fonderie Valsuani, Paris, in 1966.
