About this Item
In 1992, the late Giulio Bertrand retired to South Africa from Italy and bought the historic Morgenster farm on the slopes of the Schaapenberg, which dates back to 1711. Specialising in long-ageing Bordeaux-style reds, the director of Cheval Blanc, Pierre Luton, was hired as the consultant.
The fine 2001 vintage is simply immaculate today and remains one of their standout vintages. It was recorked at the cellar and will age well for another decade ore more.

'Merlot-dominated 2001 delicate with already tertiary nose, but tight restrained palate suggests keeping for 5+ yrs. More ripely opulent & big than pvs, though still refined.’ Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2005, 4.5*
