Brown

France - Bordeaux

The history of Château Brown goes back almost 1,000 years, with traces of vines as early as the 12th century. The property got its name from a rich Scottish wine trader, John Lewis Brown, who settled in Bordeaux shortly after the Revolution, in 1795. Lying in the northern corner of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Brown covers some 60 hectares and has a similar climate to that enjoyed by the Médoc, although it tends to be slightly hotter with more rainfall. Despite its long history, it was only at the end of the 20th century that the château was finally restored to glory. Guided by Bernard Barthe, who became its owner in 1994, the estate invested considerably in the vines and facilities and produces classic Graves wines.
