Strauss & Co | Stand A11, Mezzanine Level
Strauss & Co will be at the RMB Latitudes Art Fair 2026 (Stand A11, Mezzanine level), where a curated selection of important Modern and Contemporary South African works from our upcoming flagship auctions will be available to view.
The fair’s 2026 theme, Oasis, explores how, like water, creativity has served as a nourishing and regenerative force in Johannesburg. The theme celebrates the city’s remarkable 140-year history, shining a light on how a fierce creative spirit has thrived here, despite unlikely conditions. Johannesburg has served as the fertile creative ground for many of the artists who will be featured in our exhibition booth, such as Robert Hodgins, William Kentridge, Durant Sihlali, and Sam Nhlengethwa.
Following the fair’s commemorative tone, Strauss & Co’s Latitudes presentation will include a timeline that highlights our key achievements, tracing our role in the development of South Africa’s secondary market and our position as the leading auction house on the African continent. In conversation with this reflection, we will also be exhibiting works by Vladimir Tretchikoff, Irma Stern and J.H. Pierneef, whose auction records we hold.
Strauss & Co is also proud to be collaborating with Ardmore Ceramic Studios, who have nurtured the creative talent of African artists since 1985. A selection of their highly collectable ceramic masterpieces will be on display and on sale in our stand.

RMB Latitudes reimagines how the art ecosystem can work more inclusively, for artists and for the wider cultural community.”
Set within the historic terraced gardens and architecture of Shepstone Gardens, RMB Latitudes offers an immersive alternative to conventional art fair formats. Carefully designed indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces combine the intimacy of a curated show with the professional standards and museum-grade presentation expected of major international fairs.
